Haemostasis Kits

PENTAPHARM offers individual development of haemostasis kits to meet specific customer demands.

Application: Kits for specific diagnostic determinations, as well as for routine and research procedures.

Haemostasis, the control of haemorrhage at the injury site, is vital in maintaining blood circulation. Complex physiological mechanisms come into play to reduce and then stop bleeding.

This is comprised of three major steps:

First, the blood platelet deliver "first-aid services" at the site of injury, creating a still-fragile clot, leading to reduction and then cessation of bleeding.

Second, during the blood coagulation process the preliminary blood clot is stabilized by generation of fibrin polymers resulting in a permanent closure of the injured vessel wall as a part of the ongoing healing process.

Third, as part of fibrinolysis, the blood clot is broken down, which is the final stage in the healing process.

Blood cells, cellular components and blood coagulation factors are  integrated players in this finely balanced system. Acquired or genetic defects can lead eihter to uncontrolled bleeding, as in haemophilia, or to an increased risk of thrombosis.

Certain snake venoms can be a helpful molecular tool in the development of in vitro diagnostic system. They can act either as inhibitors or accelerators of haemostasis. PENTAPHARM uses snake venoms to create diagnostic reagents or entire test kits (Pefakit®) that will help physicians to diagnose of haemostasis.
